Premium Packs

Our six-packs and jumbo six-packs are made from recycled PET which is, in turn, recyclable. Root systems are clearly visible, giving peace of mind that these are strong, healthy plants that you and your customers will love.

Designer Labels

The thoughtful design of our carry handles includes carefully-selected hi-res photographs, plant care instructions, EAN/barcode and Plant Passport. The Home Grown logo and glossy print finish complete the marketing message that these are quality British products.

Growing Expertise

We use time-tested soil mixes which retain moisture, together with slow-release fertilisers. Not only does this produce fantastic plants, but they have a longer shelf life and need less watering/staff maintenance.

Blue Ribbon Plants is a family-run wholesale plant nursery, originally founded by Walter Back (1933-2019). We supply garden centres and retail outlets with a wide range of pack and pot bedding plants, also perennials. Our philosphy is simple: grow great plants, sell at fair prices and be straightforward to deal with.

Cancelled Spring leads to financial meltdown for Britain’s plant growers. Nurseries have had to throw away over 50 million pounds worth of spring flowers due to the prolonged winter weather that has gripped Britain. The freezing conditions have put people off from tending to their gardens which should now be awash with colourful spring plants usually bought at garden centres. But due to the lack of demand, independent growers and nurseries haven’t been able to sell on their stock to places like B&Q and Homebase. They are now having to make room for their summer flowers and have no choice but to bin spring plants such as pansies, primroses and violas by the lorry load. It is estimated that over 30 million individual plants will have to be dumped.

Nowadays we use modern machinery and IT systems to complement traditional growing methods established over decades. Our team consists of Jan (Walter’s niece), Rob (Walter’s son), Inga (Rob’s wife), Aivar (Inga’s brother), plus Jan’s two nephews Chris and Sam – so we are a family business in the truest sense!

As a family team that lives and breathes continuous improvement, we have invested in machinery, IT, infrastructure and transport to ensure we can meet your needs. So whether you need 2 or 42 trollies, we can deliver.
